MOBILE THERAPY

When selecting Allied Health supports, it's important to choose a professional who understands your unique needs and goals.

Social Workers are university qualified Allied Health Professionals who play an important role in maintaining or maximising the quality of life for individuals living with a disability using a variety of evidence based therapies and recognised in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2024-2025 Version 1.3 valid from 1 October 2024.

The Social Work therapeutic lens includes:

  1. A Holistic, Strengths-Based PerspectiveSocial Workers focus on the whole person, not just the diagnosis.  We consider your environment, relationships, personal strengths and lived experiences to create meaningful and sustainable change.

  2. A Neuroaffirming and Person Centred Approach: We recognise and respect neurodiversity, supporting individuals in ways that align with their identity and lived experience.  Our approach fosters self-acceptance, autonomy and empowerment rather than trying to "fix" or "normalise" behaviours.

  3. Human Rights Advocacy: Social Workers are committed to upholding the human rights of every individual, ensuring equal dignity, respect, and access to opportunities. We advocate for your right to self-determination, autonomy, and participation in decisions that affect your life. This advocacy is central to our practice, ensuring that you are treated with fairness, equality, and without discrimination in all aspects of your support.

  4. Emphasis on Emotional Wellbeing and Social Connection: Emotional regulation and social inclusion are more than just techniques, they are deeply connected to self-identity and relationships.  Social Workers integrate evidence-based approaches to supporting these areas in a safe and validating way.

  5. Flexible and Individualised Support: Social Work interventions are highly adaptable and tailored to what works best for you.

Choosing a Social Worker for your Allied Health Support means working with a professional who sees you as a whole person and values your unique strengths.  If you're looking for a compassionate, and empowering approach - choosing a Social Worker could be the right fit for you!

WHY USE A SOCIAL WORKER AS YOUR ALLIED HEALTH THERAPIST

For NDIS Participants, your Plan is individualised to your impairment/s that meet the disability or early intervention requirements.  Over 2025, you will receive an impairment notice when you meet access to the NDIS or transition to a new framework plan.

For more information about your NDIS Plan, you can contact your "NDIS Contact" listed in your Plan; the NDIA on 1800 800 110; or if funded within your Plan, your Coordinator of Supports or Plan Manager.

You should be aware of the NDIS Guidelines for what the NDIS will fund, and what they will not not fund released in October 2024.

Therapeutic Supports are provided under your Capacity Building Supports budget as Improved Daily Living and provide Assessment, training and therapy to help increase your skills, independence, and community participation which can be delivered in groups or individually.  Therapeutic Supports provide evidence-based therapy to help participants improve or maintain their functional capacity in areas such as language and communication, personal care, mobility and movement, interpersonal interactions, functioning and community living.

Please note that the NDIS does not fund therapeutic supports that can be provided by alternate funding such as health and diagnostic assessments, mental health clinical treatment, child protection and family support, general early childhood development, school education, higher education and vocational education and training, employment, housing and community infrastructure, transport, justice and aged care.

You will typically see Stated Supports in your Capacity Building Supports Budget which means that the funding within this budget cannot be used across other budget categories in your Plan.  Whilst we see the NDIA write specific Allied Health Disciplines within this category, we have been informed that this should be read alongside the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2024-2025 Version 1.3 valid from 1 October 2024 for choosing an Allied Health Professional that best meets your NDIS Goals; and invite you to check with your NDIA Planner or Partner.

To support transparency of information and access to the most appropriate therapeutic supports in local rural areas, we request in our Therapy Reports that this should be described as Allied Health.
